As world no. 3 in the production an export, Indonesia produces 20% high altitude Arabica coffee.
The coffee plantation distributed in major island of Indonesia. Sumatra produce largest capacity followed by Java, Celebes, Bali, Flores and Papua. Borneo produce low land Robusta and Liberica coffee. Lombok, Sumbawa, and some small island like Maluku, west Timor, also producing Robusta coffee for local consumption.
Indonesia produces small volume of Arabica and consider to be world rated best coffee, because of the high altitude, suitable geographical position and volcanic soil with suit climate.
Best ingredients, need a good chef, that is Maharaja coffee working to select the best bean from narrow single origin of Indonesia, prefer higher altitude, good practice farmer, and strictly quality control, roast with modern equipment in exact time for different coffee origin to reach the optimum roast profile yet produce Indonesia best specialty single origin Arabica, Robusta and Espresso blend coffee to meet the local and export market.
Organica Gayo
Gayo Land located at the highland of Central Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam NAD province. Inhabited by Gayo ethnic groups with their own tradition. A beautiful highland, evergreen scene along the highland, A huge Lake "Laut Tawar" formation from volcano eruption million years ago, with clean, healthy and clear water provide the life of human, flora and fauna and entire ecosystem including coffee tree. Our Gayo highland coffee planted in organic in shaded among the rain forest tree starting at altitude 1250m above sea level.
Sumatra Mandheling
Mandheling is a traditional cultural groups mainly on northern Sumatra also become a trade name of coffee from north Sumatra around lake Toba highland; it represents coffee from Lintong, Sidikalang, Samosir, Brastagi, Mandailing and sometimes Padang which is he access route of north Sumatra coffee long time ago. The world coffee drinkers have long placed Sumatra Mandheling at the top of the list of world best coffee because of its distinct characteristics from all origin. Mandheling coffee has a very spicy aroma, medium acidity, bold, balanced with good aftertaste.
The Mandheling coffee grow regions are around the highland of lake Toba, a huge lake of 100 km long and 30 km wide, the surface elevation around 900 metre. It is the largest volcanic lake in the world from eruption of super volcanic that occurs 69,000-77,000 years ago.
300 Years of Java
Java is the word for coffee from Java also the birthplace of Indonesia’s specialty coffee.
Java is the oldest coffee producing island in which the tree still indigenous, was producing high-grade coffee long before Brazil and Latin America enter the industries; and it held the supremacy in the world’s trade for many years before the younger American producing country were able to surpass annual output.
Arabica Java coffee production is centered on the Ijen plateau, at the eastern end of Java highland, at an altitude of more than 1,100 meters. The coffee is primarily grown on large estates that were built by the Dutch in the 18th century. The five largest estates are Blawan, Jampit, Pancoer, Kayumas and Tugosari and they cover more than 4,000 hectares. Java estate coffee have smaller bean size compare to Sumatra, but still producing the world best cup of Java.
Bali Kintamani
Bali well-known as one of most famous tourist destinations of the world, the small island with Balinese Hinduism belief, gifted by the exotic beaches and wonderful coral sea and with highly developed arts including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music made the island so beautiful, the art may be saw in every part of the island. Bali known as the Pulau Dewata (the island of God). the Island lie between Java and Lombok.
Coffee Arabica Bali planted by small holder in the organic volcano highland at Kintamani region. A blue lake Batur was created by eruption 30.000 years ago. The Kintamani coffee have a specific citrus flavor, clear acidity, sweet and mild. Kintamani coffee is the first coffee of Indonesia awarded with Geographical Indication ID. IDIG00000001 This trade mark belongs to the coffee farmer of Kintamani region only with their high quality coffee and environmental friendly.
Celebestica Tana Toraja
Tana Toraja located at the south of Celebes island -one of the four large Sunda islands of Indonesia and it is situated between Borneo and the Maluku island- known as a "Land of heavenly Kings". Beautiful highland inhabited by Toraja ethnic group are renowned for their elaborate funeral rites, burial sites carved into rocky cliffs, massive peaked-roof traditional houses known as Tongkonan, and colorful wood carvings.
Coffee are planted during Dutch Colonies 100 years ago. Most of Sulawesi’s coffee is grown by small-holders, Toraja arabica coffee is known for its high body, medium acidity, nutty, warm spicy, sweet and long aftertaste, which will linger on the palate for minutes. It is grown at altitudes 1200m above sea level in land with large amount of iron contents.
Organica Flores Bajawa
Flores is a small island (360 km from tip to tip) in the Indonesian archipelago around 200 nautical miles East of Bali. Flores was known as Pulau Nipa (Snake Island) before the Portuguese arrived and they renamed it Flores (Flower Island) for the beautiful coral gardens that surround it. The Portuguese influence has also made Flores a predominately Catholic island. The island of Komodo, just to the west, is home to the world’s largest lizard - the Komodo Dragon. A very long thin Mountainous land with incredibly diverse terrain, and numerous active and inactive volcanic peaks. The Bajawa Highlands are one of the most traditional areas of Flores. Bajawa is a small town nestled in the hills and is the centre for the Ngada people of this high, fertile plateau. The coffee is grown between 1200 and 1600 meters in fertile organic soil, Most of the production is grown under shade trees and wet processed at farm level. Befitting its name, coffee from Flores is known for sweet chocolate aroma, almost syrup, heavy body, low acidity, floral and woody notes.
Natural Papua Wamena

New Guinea is the second largest island in the world. The west half of the island is known as Papua of Indonesia, Baliem Valley in the central highlands of the Jayawijaya region, surrounding the town of Wamena is the main location of coffee Arabica production with altitudes between 1.600 to 2.500 meters above sea level, creating ideal conditions for super hard bean (SHB) Arabica production.
Papua produce a small amount of Arabica coffee compare to other part of Indonesia, only few tons annually and not sufficient to fit container for export. The area is extremely remote, with most coffee growing areas inaccessible by road and nearly untouched by the modern world. All coffee is shade grown, in a stunning natural environment that is home to the Bird of Paradise and uncounted other species. The tropical forests of Papua are among the most bio-diverse habitat on earth.
Most of this coffee is processed entirely by hand and transported in backpack by foot, which makes this coffee both rare tasty.
RAKATA Robusta Petik Merah

RAKATA is an active volcano at Sunda strait between island of Sumatra and Java. Indonesia produce 80% Robusta in many regions and islands, most of them coming from this region.
RAKATA content pure Robusta picked ripe (Petik Merah), with correct and care processes, while maintain full body and enhanced other character; very sweet, fruity, caramel, woody, low acidity, smooth and less bitter with moderate caffeine contents. Specially dedicated for Robusta coffee lovers in new sense of aroma and taste, with complete flavour and perfect pleasure.
Maharaja Espresso

Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee, as the result of the high-pressure brewing process, all of the flavors and ingridients a typical cup of coffee are concentrated. Espresso also base for other coffee drinks, such as lattes, cappuccino, macchiato and mocha.

There still exist some coffee origin of Indonesia, Maharaja Coffee will put in the project agenda to develop and produce more new origin specialty coffee in the time ahead.
